Greg Goldman sent out a letter to the Deaf Community apologizing for the impression that was left by his interview, basically citing time constraints and editing for the manner in which his wording was perceived. Let me think about that a moment... Ummm, nope. That doesn't work for me. How about you?
Even taken out of context, his statements were damning. Does the man not understand that words once uttered resound, sometimes forever? In fact, in the letter he never apologizes for those particular statements. And, consider this... A letter sent to specific individuals vs. an interview that can be seen by anyone world wide via the internet? I don't believe there's any equality whatsoever in comparing the impact of each.
First of all, he shouldn't have made that sort of statement. Secondly, if he truly wants to make any sort of reparation, he needs to convince the original reporter of the importance of doing a FULL series of reports about the Deaf and their Community.
I stand by my original opinion of the man. What do you think? Has he made amends sufficiently?
